Round Six Coming Up!
This Saturday, June 21, will be Round Six of the Southern California Flat Track Association 2014 series at Perris Raceway. This will be a full program of short track oval racing featuring all ages, displacements and skill levels.
Gates open at 1 PM, riders meeting after 4 PM, practice to follow, racing will begin after practice and track prep.
If you had fun at the mini races, there are still classes for the oval races.
Mini TT and Short Track races went well, with a good turnout of new riders and regulars digging the minis out of the garage.

SCFTA Perris Awards and Practice
Hello and Happy New Year!
Awards are less than two weeks away. Lunch will be provided by Mario the Taco Guy before the awards presentation. If you've been before, you know this is a good time, with good food and great friends. In order to insure there is adequate food for every one, please contact Vince or Donna at the phone or e-mail listed below.
Saturday, January 25, practice starts at 9 AM, and runs to noon. Lunch is at 1 PM. You don't have to be a racer or member to attend. This is a fun event, with awards for our top competitors and raffles for great stuff.
Vince 951-433-7622
Donna donnaedwards318@yahoo.com
Lunch by Mario the Taco Guy and as usual $7.00.
We need a head count soon!
If you did not make it to Vegas, our local riders held their ow against riders from around the country. Track regular Mike Rush took the Open win both nights, holding off Chad Cose and a host of top riders. Dylan Morin won the Top Gun 450 class Saturday, and made the main in the Open race too, one of the few riders passing after getting punted to the back of the pack. Wish I had more info, but that's about the only race I got to see!

Hello Everyone!
The weekend's coming up fast for the Ascot Reunion at Pomona and the races at Perris. Just talked to Vince and it sounds like we'll have a good turnout for the race. If you're racing, you may want to get there early for a good spot in the pits. Please remind friends and spectators to park in the lot across the street, since the pits will be reserved for racers.
Gates open at 8:30 AM, practice at 10:30, racing to follow. Vince says he has received lots of call and expects a good turnout.

So...
Lodi is running this Saturday (TT) and Sunday (short track), October 8 & 9. Who's going?
Next Friday, October 14, is the Perris Night-Before-The-National short track. The 1/4 mile cushion short track should be fast & fun. Freddie Edwards has been playing in the dirt, and the surface gets better every time. Big purse for the Pro riders ($3,000?) plus all of the amateur classes from 4-year-olds on 50s with training wheels to 50+ riders on the "fire breathing twins", and everything in between. Even quite a few girls and women starting to participate!
For more information see http://www.southerncaliforniaflattrack.com/
Saturday night, October 15 is the national at Pomona, on the 5/8 mile cushion oval.

SCFTA Round 9 at Perris Raceway

Coming up Saturday, September 17: Round 9 of the Southern California Flat Track Association 2011 Short Track Series on the quarter mile cushion oval at Perris Raceway.
September and October will be busy months for flat track racing in Southern California. This can be an opportunity to test and tune against the competition for the weeks ahead!
Bikes from 50cc to big twins will be running, plus different classes for age (both bike & rider) and skill levels from training wheel 50s to National level Pro riders. With 22 classifications, most racers have an opportunity to run more than one class.
While no knobby rear tires are allowed on full size bikes, minis (up to 150cc) are still able to run knobbies.
With four races to go, many class titles are still up for grabs.
Next race will be October 14, Friday night, before the AMA National at Pomona. A $ 2,500+ purse will draw National talent for the Pro races that night!
Gates open at 1 PM, practice at 5, races to follow.

e-mail socalflattrack@aol.com
Phone 951-443-7622

Happy New Year!
Miguel DuHammel told me that a while back in June. Didn't remember who he saw at New Years, so it was his standard greeting!
The March 5th practice, lunch and awards may seem like it's a long way off, but it's rushing this way in a hurry! We're clean through January, next practice is February 5th.
There will be a speedway race on Saturday, February 19th. Times TBA, check the schedule or call.
The 2011 season officially starts March 19 & 20. Another hangover national? (thanks Emmy!) Let everyone know what's up so we can fill the track again!
There will be a celebration of Wayne Hosaka's (www.flattrack.com) life and contributions to flat track, and life in general, during the Sunday March 20th race, with a cash purse for to Super Senior 60+!
Just a reminder that everyone who is planning on the BBQ Lunch for the awards need to let us know if they are going.

Please pass this around to those who dont use email.

December Practice and Speedway
Hey Everybody!
Practice this Saturday, December 4, 4-9 PM. Y'all know how to get there by now. With the cool temps you can get there early and have a good track, especially with the sun going down at 4:30 or so! Dress warm, bring heaters, you know the winter drill. Kind of like going to the desert...
Next weekend, December 11, will be the final Speedway race of the year, all first division. It'll kind of be like us having all of the national dirt trackers there for a pro-only race. There will also be Junior Speedway riders on hand for their own races. Still working out the entries, 16 of the top speedway racers in the country in a championship format race. This should be a good show. $15 for pit/spectator pass. Concessions (grill & snacks) available. Coolers OK, but no glass bottles.
Final practice of the year will be on the 18th, also 4-9 PM.
See you Saturday!

Pass it on!
The Double Header Finale for the Southern California Flat Track Association's 2010 season is coming up next weekend, November 13 & 14. As usual, the grill will be fired up with burgers and hot dogs, plus drinks and snacks. Coolers are welcome, no glass bottles please.
Saturday gates open at 3 PM, practice at 5 PM
Overnight parking is OK.
Sunday gates open 9 AM, practice at 10:30 AM. With the new track surface, the day race should not be any problem with a few quick laps of the water truck.
Carl Whitt has suggested a 125 Vintage Two Stroke class. Anyone interested can e-mail me and I'll pass it on, or speak to Carl at the races. There's got to be a few 125 trackers out there still!
Finally, Carrie Hancock is putting on the fourth Speedway race at Perris Raceway this Saturday, November 6th. If you're local and need something to do this weekend, the race is all access like the flat track races, pits are open, and you can see all the bikes and riders up close. Gates open at 4 PM, practice (yes Perris Raceway has practice) at 5:30, racing at 7:00.

Double Header Race November 13 & 14
I hope all of you are getting ready for the double header SCFTA race at Perris November 13 & 14. The trees and shrubs are doing well, some are in bloom. Emmy and the Bushes are calling this "The Hangover National".
Saturday gates open at 3 PM, practice at 5 PM.
Overnight parking is OK.
Sunday gates open 9 AM, practice at 10:30 AM. With the new track surface, the day race should not be any problem with a few quick laps of the water truck.
Those of you that came to practice: Was that fun or what? I was still sore Monday and I quit early (8 PM) and didn't fall!
Sounds like things went well at the final rounds of Eddie Mulder's series at Willow.
If you want to go skidding around this weekend, October 30, Steve Evans is running at Victorville, signup 3-5:30 PM. 310-309-9418, dreamteamspeedway@sbcglobal.net
If you're a local and need something to do Saturday, November 6, there will be a speedway race at Perris. $15.00 to get in, pits included. No glass bottles allowed.
See you at the track,
Elliott
